Dragon Boat Steering Clinics – Register now at register.dragonboatbc.ca

  • When: Saturdays: Level 1 – 11:00 AM-3:00 PM
  • Where: Creekside Community Centre, 1 Athletes Way
  • Cost: Level 1: $25
  • Level 1: Taught by veteran steerspeople, this program covers terminology, on-water rules, and tips/techniques for steering in a race. After some time on land to cover course information, your group will head on the water to practice your new skills. Course includes on-water testing portion to evaluate participant ability to steer a boat, and written quiz while on land. Individuals interested in learning how to steer, and those interested in learning how to steer for races are encouraged to participate. No accreditation is provided.
  • Level 2: Covers advanced steering techniques, 2,000 M turn race techniques and strategy, and race strategies. Recommended for advanced steerspeople and competitive steerspeople. Note more time for this clinic is classroom based due to covering rules of racing. Water time will cover turns. Level 1 or competitive steering prerequisite. (NOTE: Not currently offered at this time)
  • Minimum age 12. Youth aged 12-18 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Participants may be required to paddle for short periods during the on-water portion of the course. Alert your instructor if you are unable to paddle for any reason. Program includes session with instructor, access to equipment including a PFD and paddle, and access to course materials. Groups of 12 or more may request a private session; please email info@dragonboatbc.ca for additional assistance.
